ReelOzInd! 2024 Festival: keberagaman | diversity

Published: May 11, 2023

For almost a decade, this popular and unique bi-national short film festival has been bringing Australian and Indonesian audiences together to celebrate and enjoy the work of talented and emerging filmmakers from both countries.

The theme diversity/keberagaman is a familiar concept for Indonesians and Australians. Both of our multicultural societies are stronger for the differences we celebrate and respect in each other. But sometimes we also take this idea or even the word ‘diversity’ for granted. ReelOzInd! asked filmmakers to challenge us to think more deeply about what it means in our lives today. In our hyper-connected digital era we have access to the greatest ever range of ideas, cultures, technologies, talents, skills and opinions. We are also more mindful than ever of the difficulties we face in making sure that our communities – both online and offline – remain places that are open to and tolerant of diversity.
